It’s an easy and scenic drive. And…

Glacier Bear Condo is about a 45-minute drive from Whitefish to Glacier National Park.

What is so great about Glacier National Park?  You will have hundreds of miles of hiking to view spectacular scenery, lakes, glaciers, wildlife and fantastic views. There’s a reason it’s called the Crown of the Continent, and you need to be sure it’s a part of your bucket list.  You can get instant access to a variety of Glacier’s information by clicking on our special Glacier page by clicking HERE

CONTINENTAL DIVIDE AT LOGAN’S PASS

Where else can you cross the Continental Divide at over 6600 feet?  You can take the renowned Going-To-The-Sun-Road to reach Logan Pass during the summer months. But, you need to make it while the road is passable and there’s no guarantee how long that can be. Sometimes, it’s closed by September due to snow.

TAKE THE TRAIN

One thing that’s new and exciting to do is take the Amtrak train from downtown whitefish over to East Glacier Village. You leave early in the morning and return about 9 o’clock at night. It’s a great and easy way to see Glacier National Park in a unique way.

Red Bus Tour In Glacier National Park Glacier Bear Condo

Red Bus Tour Is A Great Way to See The Going To The Sun Road

Another option to see the Park is taking a driver-narrated bus tour of The Going To The Sun Road. Here, you’ll ride in a vintage 1936 red bus with rolled-back tops. It’s a truly one-of-a-kind experience and very informative where all you need to do it kick back and let someone else drive you around. You’ll leave from Glacier Park Lodge, West Glacier Village, Saint Mary Village or Motel Lake McDonald.  Just so you know, reservations are required. If you prefer to drive to the Park from Glacier Bear Condo, it’s an easy and beautiful ride. You’ll drive 10-15 minutes back down the mountain and through charming downtown Whitefish. Then you’ll pass through Columbia Falls  (a great stop to pick up lunch at Laura’s Deli!), then drive through Hungry Horse where you can stop for touristy items or gifts. Then head onward to the west entrance of Glacier. There, you’ll see the Canadian Tourism office, camping and gift stores, river guides, a few cafes,  an ice cream shop and a post office before you get to the main Glacier Gate.
